I’ve done this before.
Déjà vu?
This different seems familiar.
Another new trick for an old dog.
Another change to embrace.
Another ambitious and hungry
motivational phrase
uttered by a fresh-off-the-assembly-line smile
who knows nothing of the inevitable.
This face show no wear of time,
not a line of regret.
“Change is good.”
“Sometimes,” my chest silently chirps.
“Find your new normal.”
I wince, then smile reaching into my pocket
to jangle that which I’ve carried
for years.
